Our natural tendency is to think about preservation as the past and "green"
as the future when, in fact, both are built upon similar foundations.
Historic preservation has been a specialty of ours since our beginning. To
do this work requires respect for what exists in a building and a location.
And as more and more of our projects involve green architecture, that too is
about respecting what exists in the environment and nature. If you think
about it, preservation is about recycling and sustainability.  The building's shell is still in its original state and no energy is used in the creation or
transportation of new building materials.

We've emerged as a leader in historic preservation because we've always
stayed at the forefront of innovative building and material restoration,
conservation, and rehabilitation and preservation evaluation. In addition to
requiring specialized knowledge, preservation takes a certain temperament
and a substantial commitment of resources devoted to research, design and
technology. Through our use of on-site investigation, in-depth research,
thoughtful planning, accurate  cost analysis, and the latest technology, we
participate in the successful restoration and preservation of numerous
projects each year.

Many of our staff have participated in LEED training and are currently on their way to becoming LEED accredited.  We are currently working on exciting new green projects. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a nationally recognized program to guide and encourage the design of resource-efficient, environmentally responsible buildings.

We'd like to congratulate, Jon Fisher, Vipul Talwar and Cass Gottlieb for becoming  LEED ® accredited and commend Carol Currotto for being the first to become LEED ® accredited!

We'd also like to commend Mimi Giguère for being appointed as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of History at the University of Maryland University College.  Mimi will teach an Introduction of Historic Preservation course.
